Itinerary
The Tower was built in the 14th century, precisely in the medieval period, as part of the defensive walls of the city of Alghero. This is the only remaining part of the city walls on the land side, which were completely demolished after 1867. A good way to start our exploration

Built by the Conventual Friars Minor at the end of the 15th century, the church stands on the site of a small chapel preceded by a vegetable garden. The building is part of a complex that also includes the convent, the cloister and the bell tower. Let's discover it's story!

The museum’s collection includes finds that testify to the first human settlements in the area, from the Neolithic to the Middle Ages, discovered during excavations both inside and outside the urban center.
The Church of Saint Michael is one of the main places of worship in Alghero and one of the most important examples of Baroque art in Sardinia. Its famous dome, one of the most recognizable symbols of the city.

Here we are in one of the main cultural attractions of the city, located right in the heart of the historic center. Alghero has always been known as the “City of Coral” for the tradition of working with red coral that dates back centuries. The museum celebrates and preserves this artisan tradition, showing the evolution of coral as an ornamental and symbolic material in the local culture.
The Sperone Tower takes its name from the presence of an adjacent rocky spur, which was part of the city’s network of fortifications. This tower is called by several names, one of which is Torre de l’Esperó Reial in Catalan.

Located at the end of the Bastioni Cristoforo Colombo, the Tower of Saint James stands out for its unmistakable octagonal shape. Built in the 16th century in homage to King James I the Conqueror, it features architectural details of Catalan inspiration, such as the niche at the entrance and the spiral staircase that leads to the lower level.
