Spello still retains traces of its historical past with the ancient walls and the Propertius Towers that protect Porta Venere. The church of Santa Maria Maggiore can be reached by walking through suggestive alleys and ancient streets, along which flowered balconies overlook and which have become true symbols of the city, and still remain one of the most coveted. The church holds an artistic treasure inside: the Baglioni Chapel, with a Deruta majolica floor and frescoes by Pinturicchio. Spello also boasts a very rich art gallery and, just outside the walls, a museum complex known as "Villa Dei Mosaici", which has brought to light 500 square meters of precious mosaics whose central theme is the grape harvest and wine.
