Tour Umbria : New Year's lights 2027 (31/12 - 03/01)

WELCOME - END OF YEAR CELEBRATIONS
Arrival in Umbria by own means in the early afternoon, check-in at the hotel in Foligno and accommodation in the rooms booked. In the afternoon, free time to discover Foligno on your own, walking through the streets of the historic center and starting to savor the atmosphere of the city, before preparing for the end of year party.

19:30 – Meeting with the driver at the hotel and departure by bus for the evening and end of year dinner at Il Poeta Contadino, a sober and elegant restaurant between Perugia and Assisi.

Our New Year’s Eve party will be a unique experience, designed to make you live an unforgettable night. We will welcome you with a rich dinner with drinks included. The theme of the party? Sequins! Let yourself be overwhelmed by the magic of lights and reflections and dance to the best hits of the 80s and 90s!

After the midnight toast, lentils, fires and dances, return to the hotel for the night.

CASCATA DELLE MARMORE – VISIT OF SPOLETO – LIVING CRIB OF BETTONA
10 am: 30 – Meeting with the bus driver at the hotel and departure for the Marmore Falls, which, at 165 meters high, is one of the highest in Europe. During the visit you will have free time to explore the panoramic paths of the park, stop at the most suggestive points to admire the waterfall, relax with a coffee in one of the refreshment points, buy some souvenirs and take beautiful photographs to take with you the memory of one of the most fascinating places in Umbria. Entrance ticket included (no guided tour).
13:00 – New Year’s lunch in a local restaurant in Valnerina, full menu and drinks included.

In the early afternoon we will reach Spoleto, where we will meet the Tour Guide who will accompany us to discover one of the most fascinating cities in Umbria. Picturesque and austere, Spoleto holds an ancient history and is one of the most important tourist centers of the region. Nestled in the heart of the Spoleto valley, the city has become over time one of the symbols of Umbria: a land of suggestive landscapes, refined art and atmospheres steeped in poetry and spirituality. Ancient capital of the Lombard dukes, Spoleto will captivate visitors with the incredible wealth of its historical and artistic heritage. During the guided tour we will admire some of its most emblematic places: the Rocca Albornoziana, the Ponte delle Torri suspended between the hills, the Roman Theatre of Spoleto and the Piazza del Duomo of Spoleto, the monumental heart of the city.

During the Christmas period, Bettona becomes magic, love, theater and puts on a unique opera. In the heart of the historic center of Bettona, between alleys and medieval squares of the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries, comes to life one of the most suggestive nativity scenes in Umbria. Born in 2008 from the idea of a group of locals, the Living Nativity Scene transforms the ancient village into an exciting journey through history and tradition. Through a picturesque walk through the village, visitors discover 22 scenes that tell the poetry of the Nativity and the daily life of the past, including ancient crafts now disappeared and symbolic moments of the birth of Jesus. Over 150 costumed figures animate the village, giving life to shepherds, artisans and historic shops.

7 pm: 45 – Departure by bus to the hotel with a stop for dinner at a trattoria near Assisi. Dinner with traditional Umbrian menu and drinks included. Return to the hotel and overnight.

GUIDED TOUR OF SPELLO - LUNCH
Breakfast at the Hotel and departure by bus to Spello, meeting with the Guide and guided tour of the city.
The Consular Gate marks the entrance to the city of Spello, an enchanting village of Roman origin, counted among the most beautiful villages in Italy, thanks to its environmental wealth, cultural and artistic heritage. Spello still preserves traces of its historical past with the ancient walls and the Towers of Properzio that protect Porta Venere, another access point to the village. The church of Santa Maria Maggiore can be reached by walking through picturesque alleys and ancient streets, along which flowered balconies overlook and which, over time, have become real symbols of the city, and still remain one of the most sought-after attractions.

Afternoon : GUBBIO - THE LARGEST CHRISTMAS TREE IN THE WORLD
At about 15:15, meeting with the Guide for the guided tour of Gubbio. Gubbio is a city of very ancient history: its roots date back to the Paleolithic period. The city is an incredible open-air museum which, in 1375, was the birthplace of one of the most influential Umbrian artists: Ottaviano Nelli, painter and illuminator. In Gubbio you can breathe history from every stone and there are many traces of its glorious past: the Roman Theatre, the Basilica of Sant'Ubaldo that dominates the city and houses the remains of the patron saint of Gubbio, Piazza Grande, the Gothic Cathedral, the Doge's Palace, the Church of Santa Maria Nuova. In the Palazzo dei Consoli, seat of the Pinacoteca Civica, we find the "Tavole Eugubine", seven bronze tablets bearing inscriptions in Umbrian characters of the third and second centuries BC.C. and Latin characters of the 2nd and 1st centuries BC.C., very important documents for the history of the Italic peoples.

Gubbio and Christmas are a union that has lasted since 1981, when on the slopes of Mount Ingino it was decided to install a Christmas Tree in honor of the Patron Saint of the city, Sant’Ubaldo. A tree over 750 meters high, with a base of 450 meters, a total area of about 130,000 m2 (about thirty football fields), more than 700 bright spots and on top a star with an area of 1,000 m2 designed by another 250 illuminations. Such an achievement could not go unnoticed and in 1991 the Gubbio Tree entered the Guinness Book of World Records as The World's Largest Christmas Tree. Walk in the old town and markets: Santa Claus House, Santa Claus passage, ice rink, nativity scenes on display, musical events, market with wooden boxes and gazebos.

6 pm: 00 am - Lighting of the imposing light installation, time for photos and departure for a tasty typical Umbrian dinner.
