Itinerary
Begin your foodie adventure in Piazza della Signoria, one of the best piazzas in Florence. Widely known as an outdoor art gallery, Piazza della Signoria is home to many sculptures and art vendors. Here, you will be able to spot Palazzo Vecchio, a beautiful palace dating back to the time of the Medici family. You can also spot a copy of Michelangelo’s David here. Your guide will introduce you to the Florence foodie scene, and off you go.
Duration: 10 minutes
Start your Tuscan Food Venture in the right way, following ancient Renaissance tradition we start the night with some liquid courage and a quick snack at Florence’s famous ‘’wine window’, known as Buchetta del vino. Originally created to avoid taxes on taverns by selling directly to the public, this ancient hack was frequented by masters like Michelangelo himself!
Duration: 20 minutes
Next, we’ll head to Via dei Neri, a Florentine street known specifically for its food. The street is lined with dozens of panino shops, all with freshly cured meats and delicious cheeses. During lunchtime, this street is filled with hungry travelers and Florentines waiting for a good meal. We’ll stop at a local shop for aperitivo, meaning a quick bite before dinner time. Taste local samples of meats and cheeses, wash it all down with some delicious vino while learning from our guide why meats and cheeses tend to be more ‘’spezziato’’ in Florence than in the rest of Italy. You'll also have the chance to dig your teeth into tomato bruschetta, classic thick tomato soup known as pappa al pomodoro, and two different paccheri pasta dishes one with yellow tomato sauce and the other with classic tomato sauce. Then indulge in a tasting selection of Orange mustard, balsamic vinegar, and olive oil.
Duration: 60 minutes
We’ll continue toward the Arno River and see Florence’s most famous and colorful bridge. Ponte Vecchio - centuries ago used to be the hot spot for fishmongers, butchers and the like to barter and sell their goods. Now, you’ll find the bridge lined mainly with jewelers. Cross over the bridge to access to Oltrarno area, a neighborhood that comes to life at night and is mostly populated with locals rather than tourists.
Duration: 10 minutes
And now, the main event! Settle in for a hearty dinner that will crown your Florence food tour experience. In a cozy trattoria, savor a mouthwatering Florentine steak—juicy, tender, and perfectly thick-cut. Served rare to preserve its rich flavor, it’s an authentic taste of Tuscany you won’t want to miss! Of course, it's perfectly paired with golden roasted potatoes and a glass of delicious local wine to complete the feast.
Duration: 45 minutes
Finally, we’ll wrap up our Tuscan Food Venture with a sweet treat! Follow your foodie guide through charming, winding streets to an authentic artisan gelateria. With its lighter, lower-fat recipe, you can savor a scoop (or two!) without the guilt.
